I always try and make it a point to see most of the movies that get nominated for Golden Globes and/or Oscars. I don’t always agree with the critics (I mean, come on, Bridesmaids should have won Best Comedy), but I definitely enjoy trying to decipher what all the buzz was about.
Thus leading me to finally renting The Help, after going back and forth from wanting to see it for quite some time now.
An excellent decision it was.
SUCH a good story line. I truly liked every member of the cast. They all fit their roles so nicely. Bryce Dallas Howard made you feel extreme hatred towards her character, a stuck up racist, which is a clear sign to me that an actress knows what’s she doing. Octavia Spencer, the winner of the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress, earned her award completely. She always made her presence on screen noteworthy.
One thing I especially liked about this movie is that there were several memorable scenes that really stick with you to the point where you can almost recite them word for word. Thus leading into a perfect way to end this review with a couple of lines that are certainly making their rounds through the tumblr world, and have established a permanent role in the lives of my best friend and I.
