Movie Review-The Ides of March

Let’s start this review with some brutal honestly. Ladies, gay men, straight men, animals: Please keep your eyes of the fine specimen known as Ryan Gosling. He already proposed to me, we’re blissfully happy, so proceed to back the frig off.

On my quest to see all the movies nominated for Golden Globes, this one was next on my list.

I really loved it!

It’s been pointed out many, many times in the past that scandal and politics go hand in hand. It’s really nothing new, so yes, it’s not like the movie explored something that all Americans aren’t all-too aware of.

However, this movie used an amazing cast to do so.

I haven’t seen The Descendants, the movie George Clooney won the GG for, but Gosling’s performance was absolutely stellar. Clooney did great, too, and I think we all know that Philip Seymour Hoffman is the best supporting actor ever actualized. What a boss he is. Evan Rachel Wood also was pretty good at being a sluttly, naive young girl, that made you want to slap her to grow up, but also want to reach out and help her get on track.

What’s funny about this movie is that there really was no “good guy.” Even Gosling had some corruptness to him, but in a way, you couldn’t help but love him for it. Justifiable corruptness I suppose. Or maybe I’m just biased because we’re engaged.

I won’t give away the big scandal, but I didn’t see it coming. Let’s just say you’ll go from thinking “Yeah! Clooney for President!” to “Get this pig out of my sight and stick a prize-winning cucumber up his ass.” Great acting all around, truly.

See it!
